Getting to Downtown

The Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport is just 15 minutes by taxi to downtown Minneapolis and 30 minutes by light rail.

SuperShuttle

If you do not mind sharing a ride into downtown, the SuperShuttle is an easy, low-cost option that circulates between the airport and downtown hotels. A special discount is available for SIIM attendees and exhibitors for $15 one-way or $24 roundtrip using the online group discount code: D9AVM.

The SuperShuttle counters are located in the airport Ground Transportation Atrium, accessible via the Tram Level. Click here (PDF) for your coupon!

Airport Taxi

Taxis are available at both Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport terminals.  At the Lindbergh Terminal, taxi service is available from the Tram Level.  At the Humphrey Terminal, taxis wait at the Humphrey Ground Transportation Center, in the Humphrey Parking ramp on Level 1.  Cab fare from the airport to downtown starts at about $25.00 one way.

Public Transportation

Catch the Hiawatha Line light rail train or a city bus from the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport - costing between $1.25 to $2.75 (depending on the route and time of day), one way.  The train runs between both airport terminals and continues right into downtown in less than 30 minutes.

To ride the train: take the escalator down one level from the Tram Level to purchase a ticket from the vending machines.  Take the escalator down another level to board.  Bus service is also available, up a level from Tram Level.

Metro Transit day passes are available for purchase at the Visitor Information Center at the Minneapolis Convention Center during regular hours.  The passes can be used on buses and light rail transit.

Getting Around in Downtown Minneapolis

Try the Skyway: Downtown Minneapolis has a unique skyway system, located one floor above ground, offering enclosed travel between buildings.  More than seven miles of glass-enclosed walkways connect hotels, shopping centers, sports and entertainment venues, restaurants and parking ramps – which means pedestrians can travel in climate-controlled bliss.

Travel free through the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Look for “Free Ride” buses on Nicollet Mall between the Convention Center and Washington Avenue, including a connection with the Hiawatha light-rail line, with service to the airport and Mall of America (fare required for trains). Free service is available approximately every 10 minutes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and roughly every 15-30 minutes on evenings and weekends.

What to Wear

Business casual is appropriate for the meeting.
